After five minutes of cycling on the road, I suddenly heard the horn of a concrete mixer, which overtook us at the same time.”

Van Aert was fortunately released with a fright and will appear at the start of the Tour of Flanders on Sunday - without further accidents. The Belgian is one of the big favorites for victory in 'Vlaanderens Mooiste', having already won the E3 Saxo Classic this spring. In Gent-Wevelgem he awarded the victory to his teammate Christophe Laporte and in Milan-San Remo (3rd) he was also on the podium.
