Spet nora tekma s KC. 7 runov (4 HR) v 4. inningu, ampak Royalsi izenačili do konca (5 runov v 5. inningu in nato še trije po errorju v 9. za izenačenje na 8-8), nato pa 2-run single France-a v top 10 za zmago 10-8. 

 

Eugenio Suárez, France, Teoscar Hernández and Josh Rojas homered in a seven-run fourth inning off Jordan Lyles, the Mariners' first four-homer inning since May 2, 2002 at the Chicago White Sox. Suárez and France combined for Seattle's sixth back-to-back homers this year as the Mariners took a 7-0 lead.

 

Hernández tied his career high with five hits and had three RBI.

 

Nelson Velázquez grounded to Rojas leading off and reached when the second baseman threw wide of first for an error. That led to three unearned runs against Andrés Muñoz (3-5), who in a 42-pitch outing blew a save for the second time in eight chances. Michael Massey hit a two-run single and Salvador Perez had an RBI single.

2-0 zmaga proti Astrosom in smo na wild card pozicijah! Odličen pitching, na koncu v 9. inningu je infield malo zakuhal stvari z dvema errorjema, a smo se rešili. 

 

J-Rod je noro vroč

That said, there are many other metrics in play when the Mariners made this assessment, and aside from Luis Castillo and Logan Gilbert, their entire rotation has been on a schedule beyond four days’ rest over the past two seasons based on the Minor League schedule, which typically operates on a six- to seven-day rotation with most teams playing a week-long series against the same opponent.

Julio Rodríguez went 4-for-6 with four singles and a stolen base -- and it was his worst game of the past four days.

 

Rodríguez's historic, hotter-than-hot stretch continued Saturday night in the Mariners' 10-3 win over the Astros at Minute Maid Park, as he broke the AL/NL record for the most hits in a four-game span with 17.

 

Rodríguez's 17-for-22 streak surpassed the 16 hits by Milt Stock of the Brooklyn Robins in 1925. The center fielder also homered twice in those 22 at-bats, including a huge shot in his 5-for-5 performance on Thursday. Oh, and he stole five bases during that stretch, which, safe to say, Stock did not.

 

Here’s what he has done in his past four games:

 

Wednesday: 4-for-6, double, 2 RBIs, two stolen bases
Thursday: 5-for-5, home run, double, 5 RBIs
Friday: 4-for-5, home run, RBI, two stolen bases
Saturday: 4-for-6, stolen base

M'si zmagali 5-0 proti Rangersom za izenačenje serije. J-Rod se pa nevarno približuje Mendoza line (.200 BA). No, poglobljeni statsi pravijo, da še ni razloga za paniko.

 

 

I don’t want to minimize Julio’s problems—we’re not imagining things. Most notably, his hard-hit rate is down by 5% and his barrel rate is down by almost 3% from last year. And the end results have been bad, most obviously noticeable in his .296 wOBA and 91 wRC+. But while I don’t love articles that just walk through a player’s stats pages, things don’t look so bad under the hood, and this feels like a moment where doing that together could be good for perspective.

 

Let’s start with this: Julio’s been getting very unlucky. His .256 BABIP is really hard to believe for someone who hits the ball as hard as he does and who runs as fast as he does. He doesn’t deserve that BABIP based on his contact. I know it’s hard to believe, but his xwOBA—his expected results based on quality of contact—is actually up this year, at .344 after coming in at .337 in 2022. What’s happening is that he’s in the 12th percentile for xwOBA-wOBA, which is to say, he’s been unluckier than 88% of the league.

 

I think the weather and the ballpark are to blame for a lot of that. wRC+ accounts for ballpark effects, but uses a years-long adjustment, whereas the marine layer is at its most impactful in April, and it’s been a particularly cold and wet spring this year. Here are just two of many examples of balls that would have been out in a lot of other parks.

Razbili White Soxe 14-2, čeprav je imel Julio prost dan. Dobra novica tudi, da se je Crawford vrnil po concussionu. 

 

Raleigh 2 HR in 6RBI :avadodo: Castillo tudi odličnih 7 inningov odpitchal. Dobro, da se je BP vsaj malo spočil, potem ko so v nedeljo proti Astrosom imeli nepričakovano veliko dela, ker je Hancock moral zaradi bolečin v rami (so ga že dali na IL, a upam, da ni hujšega) končati že po dveh inningih.


Pa še Rangersi so izgubili v 11. inningu, tako da smo še samo dve tekmi za njimi. Kdo bi si še slaba dva meseca nazaj mislil, da bomo imeli celo šanse za zmagat divizijo.

Like a SB win za Komanderje :D 

 

The Baltimore Ravens' 24-game preseason win streak ended Monday night in a 29-28 loss to the Commanders, who erupted in celebration on the field and on the sideline.

 

Joey Slye's 49-yard field goal with 9 seconds remaining handed Baltimore its first loss in the preseason since 2015, which was three years before the team drafted Lamar Jackson. The winning drive was kept alive when Ravens cornerback Corey Mayfield Jr. was called for pass interference on fourth-and-11 with 1:04 left in the game.
